Emily Curtis

Hatha Yoga Monday & Wednesday 6.15am, Beginner Yoga Wednesday 6.00pm & All levels Vinyasa Sunday 8.00am

Emily is trained in an authentic tradition of Hatha and Raja yoga by her teacher Acharya Upendra Roy, in Sydney. She has been dedicated to practicing yoga since 1998 and began teaching in 2002. Her passion for yoga took her to India multiple times where she spent extended periods immersed in yoga and yogic philosophy. Here she practiced with various teachers from the Iyengar and Sivananda traditions, completing further teacher-training certificates from both schools.

After the death of her teacher, Acharaya in 2006, Emily decided to focus on teaching the system of yoga that was passed on to her from him in order to keep this tradition alive. In 2012, Emily co-published a book, which is a collection of Acharya’s teachings and notes of his life titled ‘The Teachings on Hatha and Raja Yoga of Acharya Upendra Roy’.

For almost 15 years Emily has taught yoga, coordinated and run retreats and workshops in Australia, India, Portugal, Korea and France. She also taught regularly with the Byron School of Yoga, Yoga in Daily Life and with Acharyas Yoga and Meditation Center before moving to Noosa in 2014, where she loves being a part of the Yoga Circle community and being associated with such a high quality of experienced yoga teachers.

My focus is on teaching the wholeness of yoga, staying true to the authenticity of hatha yoga as taught in ancient yogic texts which has been passed on from teacher to student for thousands of years. Her classes are suitable for the beginner to the advanced student and are made up of Pranayama, Asana, Relaxation and Meditation. She aims to offer the student an experience of peace and clarity, which can be carried into everyday life.

Emily is a full member of the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA).
